Patrol Division

The Ste. Genevieve County Sheriff’s Office currently has 12 Patrol Deputies and 3 Detectives. For more on the Detectives responsibilities please see the Detective Division tab.

The 12 Road Deputies are broken down to 7 Deputies, including a K-9 Deputy and K-9 Saber, 2 Corporals, 2 Sergeants and 1 Animal Control Deputy. K-9 Saber is a black labrador which is certified in narcotic detection.

For more on the Animal Control Deputy, please see the Animal Control tab.

Each Road Patrol Deputy is assigned their own patrol vehicle. Since their patrol cars are basically their office area, we assign everything they need to perform their duties that are required of them. Such items include necessary weapons, flares, fingerprint kit, camera, first aid kit, etc. and all the proper forms needed for reporting purposes.

The Road Patrol fleet of vehicles consists of Ford Crown Victorias, Chevrolet Impalas and Dodge Chargers.  The entire fleet is equipped the same with visible markings down the side and full light bars on the top. We do have a few unmarked vehicles for supervisors.

We also have 7 four-wheel drive vehicles that we use in the wintertime during inclement weather or when we need to get places that our patrol cars will not take us.

The deputies perform a variety of tasks. We have the two main tasks we perform on a daily basis. The first is serving the civil papers coming from the Missouri Court Systems to citizens in Ste. Genevieve County. The Deputies serve items such as subpoenas, summons, order of protections, garnishments and any variety of papers needed to be served. The second task that we perform is patrolling. The Sheriff’s Office currently patrols over 600 square miles of roads and serves close to 18,000 citizens living in our county as well as protecting and serving the individuals passing through it or visiting our county.

The Deputies are also required to take reports when crimes are reported. We handle any types of crimes such as burglaries, domestic assaults, vehicles accidents, and traffic violations such as driving while intoxicated and numerous other kinds of reports.
